Due to the wide extent of the roots of a tree which are deep and wide and can be broken when uprooted it needs to be handled very carefully. Not all uprooted trees can be saved, but in some cases, one may successfully revive the tree by replanting it. Even those successfully replanted trees can suffer transplant shock, however, so post-replanting care is very important. Trees are life givers to not only humans but play host to a wide array of animals as well and should not be cut until the situation is very dire. Shamanna Soma Shekar is a nature lover and has successfully transplanted 10 trees that would have otherwise been cut. It is said that on an average one tree produces 260 pounds of oxygen each year, now to multiply that by 10 is an invaluable resource. He encourages everyone to care for the environment more and suggests that people understand the importance of trees and a green belt is to sustain life. Shamanna Soma Shekar is fondly called environment doctor by some, with good reason!
